New plug-in: Trim Passwords

So, I’ve been getting complaints from users who could not log in even though they had copied and pasted the password exactly as it had been sent to them by WordPress. I requested a copy of the email they had received, and was able to log in just fine. What could have gone wrong?

What can possibly go wrong during the copy/paste process?

Yes, you guessed it, they copied too much. They copied the password and the spaces next to it.

WordPress will dutifully accepts these extras, processes them as a part of the password, and spits out “wrong password” error, confusing the hell out of the users (they know the password is right, since they just copied it)!

So I wrote a new plug-in for WordPress: Trim Passwords to take care of the problem.

Check it out!
